NEW HAMPSHIRE FALLEN FIREFIGHTERS MEMORIAL TO MARK 20TH ANNIVERSARY WITH SEPTEMBER 26 CEREMONY
CONCORD, N.H. – The New Hampshire State Firemen’s Association invites firefighters, families, departments, public safety partners, and community members from across the state to gather on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. for the 20th Anniversary of the New Hampshire Fallen Firefighters Memorial.
The ceremony will be held at the New Hampshire Fallen Firefighters Memorial, located at 98 Smokey Bear Boulevard in Concord.
Dedicated on September 10, 2006, following nearly a decade of planning and seven months of construction, the Memorial has served for 20 years as a place of remembrance, honor, and respect for New Hampshire firefighters who lost their lives in service to their communities.
This year’s milestone ceremony will honor the 94 Granite State firefighters whose names are memorialized and recognize the families who continue to carry their memories forward.
As part of the 20th Anniversary observance, four additional names will be added to the Memorial:
· Charles Gallant, Rye Fire Department – 2023
· William Connor, Goffstown Fire Department – 2024
· Aaron Cooper, Keene Fire Department – 2025
· George Hidden, Nashua Fire Department – 1909
“Twenty years after its dedication, the New Hampshire Fallen Firefighters Memorial continues to stand as a lasting tribute to the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of our fallen brothers and sisters,” said Thomas Green, President of the New Hampshire State Firemen’s Association. “We invite firefighters, families, and members of the public to stand with us on September 26 as we remember those we have lost and ensure their service is never forgotten.”
In addition to the formal ceremony and remembrance traditions, the 20th Anniversary gathering will include several opportunities for attendees to commemorate the milestone.
New Hampsha Mini Donuts will be on site serving milk, coffee, and fresh donuts. A tent will also offer 20th Anniversary T-shirts and commemorative challenge coins for sale, as well as information and an opportunity to purchase a memorial brick.
Memorial bricks provide individuals, families, fire departments, organizations, and community members with a lasting way to recognize and remember those who have served New Hampshire’s fire service.
The New Hampshire State Firemen’s Association encourages fire departments from throughout the state, current and retired firefighters, families of the fallen, and members of the public to attend.
